Welcome to The Legends Track & Field Series

The Legends Track & Field Series is a groundbreaking continental sports initiative dedicated to celebrating Africa’s greatest track and field champions while building a platform for the next generation of athletes. Through world-class competitions hosted annually across Nigeria, Zambia, Burkina Faso, and Sierra Leone, the Series creates opportunities for athletes to compete at elite levels without leaving the continent — while showcasing Africa’s vibrancy, culture, and talent to the world.

The Legends

Our Series is anchored by iconic athletes whose achievements inspire millions:

  • Mary Onyali (Nigeria) – Olympic medalist, African sprint queen.

  • Samuel Matete (Zambia) – World champion & African record holder, 400m hurdles.

  • Eunice Barber (Sierra Leone/France) – World champion in the heptathlon and long jump.

  • Fabrice Zango (Burkina Faso) – Olympic medalist, world champion, and triple jump world record holder.

  • Innocent Egbunike (Nigeria/USA) – Former African record holder across all men’s sprint events and Olympic medalist.

Together, they bring their legacies, mentorship, and vision to guide a new era of African athletics.

  • Offering athletes qualification pathways for international competitions.

  • Driving tourism, economic growth, and global recognition for host cities.

  • Inspiring the next generation of African champions.

The Legends Track & Field Series isn’t just a sporting event — it’s a cultural celebration, a platform for growth, and a window to Africa’s future. Whether you’re an athlete, fan, sponsor, or partner, you are part of this journey.

Africa’s Stage. Africa’s Legends. Africa’s Future.
